1.0 Product Description

AgriCrete PIM+ Type S is a CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) and BC MOTH (BC Ministry of Highways & Transportation) approved product. It is specifically formulated to increase the density of concrete, thereby increasing the life of concrete surfaces. This water-based solution is 100% environmentally and ecologically safe.

1.1 How It Works

PIM+ Type S contains proprietary materials that make it both wetter and heavier than water. When applied to a clean, damp, and permeable cement-based surface, it chases moisture down into the concrete for 15 to 20 seconds before it starts reacting with alkali salts to form a gel that fills internal voids. As the gels form, materials like excess alkali and contaminants are extruded to the surface. Over 72 hours, these gels hydrate into silicate/glass crystals. The voids become packed with harder, insoluble glass crystals, which PERMANENTLY increases the density of the concrete. This layer seals the concrete, reduces vapor transmission by up to 98%, and can increase hardness by up to 2 times.

PIM+ Type S is used to increase the life of all concrete surfaces, ensuring the concrete is easier to maintain and looks better for longer.

3.0 Advantages

4.0 Technical Information

4.1 Coverage Rates

Coverage rates vary depending on the porosity of the substrate. Always test a small area first.

  • Formed Surfaces: As low as 100 sq. ft./gal (2.5 sq. meters/liter).
  • Machine Trowel Finished Floors: As high as 225 sq. ft./gal (5.5 sq. meters/liter).
  • Average Surfaces: An average of 150 sq. ft./gal (3.5 sq. meters/liter) is common.

5.0 Application Instructions

5.1 Surface Preparation

PIM+ Type S works best on clean, damp surfaces where alkali salts and dirt have been washed off. For older concrete, chemical or mechanical means (e.g., sandblasting) and a degreaser may be required to get down to bare, permeable concrete. Ensure no puddles remain.

5.2 Mixing

PIM+ Type S is pre-mixed at the factory. Do not dilute. Shake well before using.

5.3 Application Procedure

For best results, apply to DAMP, clean, permeable concrete surfaces at least 21 days old using a low-pressure, hand-pump sprayer. Apply until the surface stops absorbing the material and stays wet and shiny for at least 10 seconds. Check for dry spots after 15-20 seconds and re-soak as needed.

Do Not Leave Puddles of PIM+ Type S on surfaces. Use a mop or squeegee to spread or remove them. Before the surface dries, hose it off to remove excess product and extruded contaminants.

6.0 Limitations

  • Do not apply if the temperature is expected to fall below freezing (0°C) within 24 hours.
  • Do not apply to any non-alkali bearing material.
  • Prevent overspray on impermeable surfaces like glass or aluminum. If contact occurs, rinse with water before the product dries.
  • PIM+ Type S is not a stain blocker. For higher stain resistance, an additional coating like AgriCrete PTS+ is recommended.

AgriCrete shall not be liable for damages of any sort, including remote or consequential damages, resulting from any claimed breach of any warranty.
