The AgriCrete Water Resistance Visual Test

Sometimes seeing is believing. We conducted a straightforward visual demonstration to show the remarkable difference in how water interacts with concrete surfaces treated with our products versus untreated concrete.

The Setup: Three Concrete Samples

In this demonstration, we applied water droplets to three identical concrete samples:

  • Sample 1: Treated with PTS+ (our surface topcoat)
  • Sample 2: Treated with PIM+ (our penetrating internal modifier)
  • Sample 3: Untreated concrete (control sample)

Immediate Differences in Water Behavior

The results were immediately visible:

  • On PTS+ treated concrete: Water formed perfect, rounded beads that remained on the surface indefinitely without any absorption
  • On PIM+ treated concrete: Water spread slightly but remained on the surface, showing significantly reduced absorption compared to untreated concrete
  • On untreated concrete: Water began absorbing immediately, creating a darkened area as moisture penetrated the porous surface

Timed Absorption Test Results

After 5 minutes:

  • PTS+ sample: Water droplets maintained their bead formation with no visible absorption
  • PIM+ sample: Water remained largely on the surface with minimal absorption
  • Untreated sample: Complete absorption, with moisture spreading laterally through the concrete

The Wipe Test: Surface Moisture vs. Absorption

We then wiped each surface with a dry cloth:

  • PTS+ sample: Surface instantly dry with no evidence of water contact
  • PIM+ sample: Surface quickly dried with no residual moisture
  • Untreated sample: Surface remained damp with visible moisture extending beyond the original water droplet area
